Hi, I'm Shifra!
I'm a journalist who loves telling people-centered stories through data, graphics and writing.
I'm a reporter at NOTUS, a nonprofit publication by the Allbritton Journalism Institute, where I report on politics and policy, with a focus on Congress and the Trump administration. I was one of 10 people selected for AJI's 2024-26 political reporting fellowship class out of more than 300 applicants.
Past stops include the University of Maryland (where I earned dual bachelor's degrees in journalism and environmental science and policy), the Dow Jones News Fund (where I interned in data journalism at the Connecticut Mirror and in multiplatform editing at Stars and Stripes), the Frederick News-Post and the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism.
I was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area. When I'm not reporting, I enjoy reading, hiking and trying new recipes. Feel free to reach out and chat!
