Hi, I'm Shifra!
I'm a reporter at NOTUS, where I cover politics and policy with a focus on energy and the environment. I've also reported on Congress, campaigns, tax policy, state politics in New York and New Jersey and more. I was one of 10 people selected out of more than 300 applicants to work at NOTUS as part of the Allbritton Journalism Institute's 2024-26 political reporting fellowship class.
Past stops include the University of Maryland (where I earned dual bachelor's degrees in journalism and environmental science and policy), the Dow Jones News Fund (where I interned in data journalism at the Connecticut Mirror and in multiplatform editing at Stars and Stripes), the Frederick News-Post and the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism.
I was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area. When I'm not reporting, I enjoy reading and hiking. Feel free to reach out and chat!
